MR. P’s First Attempt at Being Handy

I mentioned earlier that we replaced our sump pump shortly after closing on the house. The task didn’t really require much “handyman” skills and it was more of a task of learning about the difference between the various sump pumps and deciding which one we needed.

The Big Move

We knew we had a lot of stuff. It was one of the big decision factors for buying a house. We just didn’t realize how much stuff we had!

The week before we moved my mom and uncle came up to help us pack. I can’t begin to express how grateful we were for their help. I think we would still be moving if it wasn’t for them! We had stuff stuffed in every nook and cranny in our apartment and we had a full storage unit.

The First Few Weeks

Still in the afterglow of being new homeowners we were occasionally ditching the city apartment and staying at the house with Byron to make an attempt at cleaning, changing all the locks, and make a few repairs. The first big spring rain brought a great surprise…a broken sump pump! Fortunately we didn’t get too much water in the basement and we didn’t have any of our belongings in the basement yet. Mr. P. had a *wonderful* day cleaning out the water and that evening we had a self taught crash course on sump pumps. We also managed to actually replace the pump ourselves!

New Start

So, it’s been entirely too long since I’ve used this blog and I think I need a change in direction for it. Rather than discussions in the life of Mrs. P I think I’ll focus on the adventures of home ownership.

Its been a while

It has been quite a while since I have posted on here. We have had a pretty crazy year that I will try to update when I have a bit of time. Now that I have completed my MBA!!!!!

My Goodness....

March already??

What a day

I have been at work for 9 hours and counting and it has been an interesting day. Surprisingly, work has not contributed to the interesting factor one bit.

October already!?!?

I'm getting excited for the end of the year, although I don't really know why. Maybe it’s knowing that we are closely approaching the 2 week holiday shutdown or that I will be half way complete with my MBA. (I can't wait to have 2 whole weeks to relax with no worries. I'm pretty sure we have a break in our classes then too!) I think I am just ready to start a new year in hopes that it is better than the last. Don't get me wrong, this year has been fantastic.

A Little Rant

Ok, so my last post was in frustration of the amount of time it takes to get through the Quarter decisions for my marketing simulation. I will have to say, I still think it takes too long, but I have to take it all back. Our team has been doing amazingly well and we are making money like it's nobody's business. The simulation has us compete with companies the "computer" came up with and also tells us how we are doing in comparison to the other "real" companies (i.e. class groups) that we aren't directly competing with.

This sucks

My class this term is Marketing. Marketing is fine, until you have a marketing simulation that requires a lot of work and a group that doesn't know how to make decisions without having the entire group there. Literally, every little detail they are wanting to determine together even though we all have roles and decisions we are responsible for. We have been on the phone for 1.5 hours and are only half done. I can't tell you how annoyed I am when I know that it would take me only 30 mins or so to do all the work on my own! I have other work that I need to complete on my own.
